The Quality Behind Vacuum Impregnation

....Vacuum Impregnation is an advanced modern porosity sealing technique. The process effectively tests and seals leaks in castings. By sealing porosity, impregnation can also extend machining tool life, particularly in powder metal parts.

.....Used by many industries, impregnation is performed on a wide variety of parts. Some typical applications are: Gear housings that contain grease or oils, valves that contain liquids or gases, electronic housings that must not allow moisture to enter and ruin the components, hydraulic parts that must retain fluid pressure, lens housings that require no moisture from entering and causing distortion, air powered tool components, transmission cases, microwave components, vacuum pumps, compressor parts, chrome plated marine parts, parts that must be submerged in water or fluids, computer parts in super clean systems, fluid cooled parts, refrigeration and air conditioner parts, pipe fittings, and many other applications.

.....When castings are impregnated, the pores are filled providing a smooth surface so drills and taps do not bind when penetrating the wall of the casting. Impregnation can also be used to bond a tight fitting bushing so it will not move. By means of vacuum and internal impregnation, the process works to eliminate leaks, improve the quality of products, reduce warranty costs, reduce costly inspection and test procedures. The procedure is used for sealing microporosity in metal castings, powder metal parts, electronic components, plastic composites, and other porous substrates. A special advanced technology sealant fixes the leaks and seals the internal porosity.
