guarantee of top service to our customers. ....We're
also like to share with you another endeavor. Anionics is
near completion in our quest to obtain
QS 9000
registration. For
customers and suppliers who are familiar with ISO 9000, but
may not be familiar with QS 9000, let me take a moment to
explain what it entails. The Big Three Auto Makers met
for the first time in history in a cooperative venture. The
purpose of this meeting was to attempt to agree on a
supplier quality standard, acceptable to all three, that
could be applied worldwide. The creation of one standard
would eliminate the repetitive and overlapping standards
that were currently in existence. For the auto makers, it
was costly for each to develop their own quality standards.
For the suppliers, it was costly to maintain separate
standards for each customer. The Big Three recognized that
many other industries were beginning to certify to ISO 9000,
the international quality standard. They felt this was a
very good place to start. After carefully reviewing ISO
9000, they found a couple of things. First, they agreed with
everything in the ISO standards. Secondly, they all agreed
that for their purposes some of the things in their current
specifications needed to be added to ISO to satisfy all of
their quality needs and concerns. Consequently, QS 9000 was
born. Anionics, as most of our
customers and suppliers know, has been a Tier One and Tier
Two automotive supplier since 1972. All of our processes are
still actively producing automotive work. Anionics is also known for our
world class approach to quality. QS 9000 is a natural fit.
Our efforts began about six months ago, concurrent with the
aerospace certification we have already received. The effort
entered Phase Two at the beginning of July when intensive
writing and training began. Our tentative date for
registration is December 1998. QS 9000 registration requires an
allocation of manpower and resources for implementation and
maintenance. We believe, as do most quality minded
organizations, that this approach is necessary to do
business in the 21st century. We also believe this approach
is needed to provide top quality to an ever more discerning
customer. We know this is the right
approach to be the best supplier for you.
